Our Inns Give Back
Big Sable Point Lighthouse

One of the many appealing aspects of Ludington is the tremendous sense of community and friendliness we all experience here. As innkeepers, we feel the importance to give back as we have all been on the receiving end of so much warmth and generosity. In addition to shopping and supporting our fellow small business owners, we have special relationships with a number of them as well.

SPLIKA - known as the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association - is another local group dedicated to preserving four of our nearby lighthouses - two of which are in Ludington. Here are the Big Sable Point Lighthouse, and the North Breakwater Pier Lighthouse, plus the Little Sable Point Lighthouse and the White River Light Station are part of their focus. We donate as much as our budget allows to help the keepers preserve the lighthouses.

In the springtime, as part of the Love Ludington weekend, we all enjoy opening our inns to the public for tours, and then donating back to the Lakeshore Resource Network. This is a wide range of local community resources sharing the same space which includes the Lakeshore Food Club. We also collect foods and non-perishable items.

Several innkeepers are also active in the Rotary Club of Ludington, along with the Ludington Chamber of Commerce. We often offer inn gift certificates for the annual Holiday Rotary Auction, which benefits our students and the local community.

Christmas time brings our beloved West Michigan Bed & Breakfast Christmas Cookie Tour. Our area has overwhelmed us with kindness by offering our ticket holders special shopping and dining discounts. Several small businesses are represented in our homes with pop up shops. HumaniTea is also near and dear to many area residents and to our guests. A portion of each tour ticket also goes to HumaniTea whose mission is to help fight human trafficking. Every guest also receives a lovely ornament which also helps further the cause.

Together our Ludington Bed & Breakfast Association is a platinum sponsor for the Mason County Historical Society. Besides an eagerly awaited new Mason County Research Center, Historic White Pine Village and the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum are two of our local treasures. Our guests enjoy special discounts to our museums.
